In my own words
Before I even watched this film, I had only seen some clips on YouTube and watched some behind-the-scenes footage and fun videos about it. Then I said to myself, Okay, why not? This film looks really fun and presents a Western in a different way. Since watching Django Unchained by Tarantino, I’ve really grown to love Westerns.
Not gonna lie, this film was on a really high level in terms of cinematography. It perfectly captures the typical Western filming style and even includes references to other Western films. I also really liked how the creators balanced serious and unserious moments while incorporating a lot of humor.
One aspect I found particularly interesting was that the actors didn't just record their lines in a sound booth—they actually acted out the scenes together, making the voice performances feel much more natural and immersive. I really enjoyed watching the behind-the-scenes footage where you could see the effort they put into their roles.
Something that surprised me was discovering that Hans Zimmer composed the music. As someone familiar with his style, I could definitely recognize his signature touch in some moments. The combination of great cinematography and fitting music made for an impressive experience.
A little detail I loved was the Mariachi band that narrated different chapters of the film, adding humor and style. Overall, Rango is a classic Western at its core but brings something fresh to the genre, which is always great to see. I really appreciate when filmmakers take a popular genre and put a unique spin on it.
I highly recommend this film to everyone—it's enjoyable, funny, and brings a lighthearted, entertaining twist to the Western genre!
