Story in a few words
It Was Just an Accident follows the aftermath of a seemingly simple, everyday mishap that unexpectedly tangles the lives of several ordinary people. What begins as a small, accidental event slowly exposes hidden tensions, moral dilemmas, and the quiet pressures of social expectation. As individuals confront the consequences—intended or not—the film explores how a single moment can ripple outward, revealing character, conscience, and the fragile balance between truth and self-preservation.
In my own words
That's my first time ever watching a Middle Eastern film, and i was not disappointed.
From story to cinematography, this film was really interesting to watch.
Starting with the story: I really liked it; just overall the beginning was really well written, as was the end of the film (which was really good).
The story really shows the dark side of the regime of Iran, the persecution, and all those worker camps. The film shows what revenge looks like, but a nonviolent one, with really strong words and dialogue. This film has no gaps when it comes to dialogue.
It's a really strong story, which I always like to watch. The actors really delivered a phenomenal performance. I have to say, Iranian actors are hot stuff when it comes to acting performance. Besides the great story and acting, the cinematography was on the same level.
It really gave the film a great vibe for the story and the situation the characters are in.
This kind of clean cinematography is exactly what I like and is always a joy for me to see.
But also in general the filming locations were great, especially the one where the van is in the beginning and the end (2nd picture and last one). What I also noticed throughout the whole film was that there was no music at all—which I completely understand, because you become so absorbed in the story that you don’t even need it; you’re so focused on the great dialogue and storytelling.
For me personally, the ending scene was the most moving one because all the different parts from the story meet at the ending, which quite literally freezes you because you can't really believe it and need to process it.
What else can I say other than get yourself a DVD or rent this film because this one is on the Top 10 list of 2025 when it comes to story.
