Story in a few words

Two conspiracy-obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced she is an alien infiltrator plotting the destruction of planet Earth. Armed with dubious “evidence” and an overinflated sense of heroism, they whisk her away to a remote hideout, determined to expose the truth they believe everyone else is too blind to see. But as their improvised plan unfolds, they find themselves in far deeper than expected. Challenged by the CEO’s unnerving composure, their own clashing beliefs, and a growing sense that the world outside their conspiracy bubble may not match the one in their heads.

In my own words

This film, like few others, belongs to my 2025 favorite film list.
The cinematography, the score, and the performances in this film were really great.
First of all, the cinematography: I really loved it; in general, filming on film is a great choice.
I really loved those wide-angle shots and also the closer ones. This is exactly my type of filming: clean and symmetrical. At the credit scene, when I saw that Ari Aster was one of the producers, I immediately realized why the style of the cinematography was like this.
It's because Ari also shoots his films in this kind of style.
And let's not even start on the colors in this film because, oh man, are those great. And especially I really loved those black and white sequences between the present story. Which were also, of course, filmed on Kodak film.
Just gives the whole plot a little bit of spice. Just overall the film had great locations for those colors and cinematography. What I also liked is that throughout the film there was not too much noise/music and also not a lot of unnecessary camera movements.

Overall the plot was really well made, I have to admit it.
It really plays with your mind because you don't really know who to believe.
The other person says it's all real, but on the other hand, the other says it's not real.
And then you have the person in the middle who gets really affected by this.
Also what I liked was the buildup for the last 45 minutes of the story. There where some
fucked-up moments, I have to say, but they were really great, honestly, which made the film what it has become.
To know what happened, you really have to watch this film. It's a great story showing what can happen if you watch too much social media and overall wacky media.

One more thing to add are the performances of Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
Who really struck me was Jesse Plemons because I only know him from Breaking Bad, playing, let's say... the quiet guy who really doesn't have a lot of dialogue.
But in this film... well, it was a shocker for me how much in character he was.
He showed the confusion and desperation of the character really well.
But also Emma Stone having to shave her head for the role performed really well.
She, like Jesse, was also really in character, and I couldn't recognize her.

Sooo... watch this film because the plot twist in this one is really funny but also fucked up at the same time
